Reflective Writing #1:

"How will you embody faithfully the characteristics of Filipino Catholic/Filipino Christians/Filipino Faith Believers?"

As a Filipino Catholic but at the same time attending Christian fellowships, I have learned many things. In every circumstance, you must never forget God when times you are down, happy and neutral. Before, I used to talk to the Lord if I only had my problems and successes, and as I continue exploring life, I have seen the importance of prayer and communication with the Lord. In His presence, we will feel the contentment. I may have many imperfections in life and regrets, but God never fails to forgive us for our sins. Serving God will get us out of our comfort zone. He has more generous plans than we did not expect.

Once you are committed to the Lord, you are always faithful to your words. Always be thankful for life and be open spiritually. Whenever I have problems, I should not feel worse. So the next time I encounter negativities, I should look for the bright side and find a solution. I also have to spread my positivity with others. Be a helping hand and spread hope during times of crisis. Show your love and care to your family, friends, classmates, yourself, and to this world that God created. Ask your loved ones if how are they, show your concern for them and our mother nature before we regret it. Through the more profound sense of faith taught me that God above there sees everything we do, more so that every light has its purpose you are also a blessing to others.

Three lessons that I have learned during this time of pandemic about education, health, and family.

COVID-19 has been such a wake-up call in so many ways. I think for many of us, we are learning valuable lessons and restarting our goals. We are actually in the middle of a global trial that has drastically altered our lives. That is why we need to remember how important kindness is to us. We have to recognize that we have received a gift called life and that we should cherish it. This pandemic gave me so many lessons when it comes to education, health, and family.

â€‹I have learned that education is vital as we face this pandemic; we should know to prepare and avoid this virus. Mask, alcohol, and Face shield are essential as we go outside our house. Next, I learned the adjustment when it comes to online classes. I must say, it is not easy to have online classes, especially some lessons need to be learned face to face such as in PE subject and lab activities. I once experienced difficulties in dealing with such activities and tasks online, but I still did my best to overcome them. Moreover, I learned to be responsible and independent. In school, we are used to having partners in crime and such, but online closure is not that effective; that is why academic integrity and honesty became learning for students to be responsible enough to handle temptations especially now that it is online, everything can be searched in just one click.

   â€‹

When it comes to health, I learned to be more aware and careful since COVID targets people who have weak immune systems. I always get conscious of the foods I eat every day. Next, I became more water drinker, and I always take Vitamin C every day. I also learned that when you have good health, you will do everything in life and appreciate time more.

The first positive family impact is our family could spend more time together and get back to basics. I learned to show love and care to my loved ones. Treasure and appreciate them more than I used to do. I get to know more about my family, their likes and dislikes. Also, the importance of spending time with my family is what I learned during this pandemic. TIME IS VALUABLE; TIME IS GOLD.

Let us not forget what the lockdown has taught us about our resilience, strength, and courage. When we are pushed into a difficult situation, our real character shines. Let us use these unique circumstances to develop in ways we have never had before. Whatever struggles will occur, always do something you love and appreciate little things even more to avoid life regrets. Always trust the Lord.

Reflective Writing #3:

Role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the present time

Information and communication technologies (ICT) create an important function in every aspect of today's life. ICT has changed the way people communicate with one another, how we find the information we need, how we work, how we conduct business, how we interact with government agencies, and how we manage our social lives.

Personally, ICT helps me to connect with people or enjoyment easily. It contributes to improving the quality of life because it can be used as a medium of instruction and education, as a means of mass communication, to promote and enhance practical and vital issues such as health and the social circle. It provides more significant experience and can help to gain and access information.

Professionally, it enhances the technology to be more convenient to businesses and work fields. It also makes us easier to communicate when working, having job interviews, such as receiving emails when you passed or not. It also makes our life easier when making some letters or invitations, such as creating Mail Merge. Also, it helps us during this new normal set-up (e.g., distance learning, work from home), where (online classes apps) technologies are used as a platform to learn.

ICT has a massive influence on social purposes. Transactions have become more comfortable, faster, and more reliable in all aspects of life, such as sending texts, money transfers, service delivery, and relief and rescue operations, which provide advanced warning in disasters and calamities society's safety.

My chosen strand is Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM). ICT managed to help me gather information to answer my assignments and comply with my performance tasks. ICT may provide answers to my explorations and discoveries, enriching my knowledge and experiences. Moreover, the role of ICT contributes to teaching and learning by increasing the effectiveness of education. ICT could be a significant motivator for us, students' learning, and helps us participate more in knowledge sharing.

Reflective Writing #4:

"How do social media has helped families, social workers, and the government gather information during calamities/pandemic?"

Most of the activities nowadays circulate in social media, especially that we are currently experiencing a pandemic called the Corona Virus Disease, commonly known as CoViD-19. Social media has made a significant influence on families, government, social movements, and information dissemination, it cannot be blamed solely for the uprisings. Eventually, it can have a negative impact, it can also have a positive impact by facilitating and speeding up the speed and complexity of interaction when used efficiently. Social media became a source of information all over the world. Let me explain how this affected families, social workers, and the government in a positive way.

First, social media helped families in the sense that it became a way for families to communicate and connect, especially when our families are working or stuck abroad or an OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker). It became a tool for them to consistently feel close even when they are far away and could still interact whenever they miss someone or each other. Also, it is a source of news or trends in the family, especially my father, who usually watches news and scrolls for helpful videos on Facebook, such as life hacks. It is a platform for entertainment in the family, especially now that everyone is mostly in the house; this could make their bond stronger. For example, our family usually watches youtube videos on our television after we have dinner. I must say, watching with them is enjoyable.

Second, social media helps social workers when it comes to disseminating information whenever there will be an emergency and calamity — sharing knowledge and essential information for people to know what to do. Furthermore, it is a tool to keep people knowledgeable about the rights and wrongs when dealing with kids, abused people (physically, emotionally), family problems. Social workers could quickly connect and communicate to people who need help through the telephone numbers and contact numbers attached in their respective pages in every social media.

Third, social media helps the government by connecting to their fellow countrymen: they are collecting the chatter and searching out relevant references, comments, and suggestions from people or netizens in social media that could aid them in effectively responding to crises and emergencies. Additionally, it informs people about what is currently happening in the country for them to be aware of their environment. The government made social media a tool for people to know enough to stay away from contagious diseases.

In today’s environment, social media has redefined social interaction. Text messaging, the internet, and social media sites have enabled people to communicate with many individuals from all over the world. It is indeed a simple and effective way to stay in reach and share information, especially during a crisis. Individuals wanting to message family and friends in the disaster zone and details on food, shelter, and transport infrastructure have increased their interaction as a result of natural disasters. By enabling people to communicate and seek assistance, social media has played a vital role in spreading information about such catastrophic events. Moreover, social media platforms help keep people up to date and informed by hosting streaming live webinars on platforms such as Facebook, Youtube, or Zoom.

Reflective Writing #5:

MY NEW NORMAL ICT
(Information and Communications Technology)

ICT (Information and Communications Technology) has significantly impacted my daily life, especially now that we are in the new normal setting where lessons and pieces of information are obtained through media and technology. ICT became the bridge for communication, it keeps the connection to people closer and easier even though you are miles away from your loved ones.

ETS (Empowerment Technology) has changed the way I view ICT; it taught me to layout projects and taught me convenience. It also became a way for me to express my opinions and viewpoints through infomercial, infographic, and google site campaigns in order to spread awareness to people around the world. ICT Project for Social Change allowed me to become a great example to the generation, and this subject made me an advocate for change and a chance to wake people up with realities in life. This subject is one of my favorites since I love to edit and make designs using gadgets. This subject also made me aware of hacking, prioritize safety and security, and taught me to always check the privacy policies in every application I download. Furthermore, it encouraged me to embrace learning and participate in educational activities. ICT helped me improve my work or output quality, which boosts my self-esteem and confidence to complete more challenging learning tasks. Additionally, it allows for collaborative learning, especially with my group members in the “cyberwareness” campaign.

Social media sometimes became a harsh tool for people with insecurities and depressions. More often than not, the world we live in is increasingly adapting to technology. Others use it 24 hours; there are statements that I see online stating that “I can’t live without media, without a cellphone, without wifi” which is exaggerating for me. I have a favorite quote since my elementary days where it is stated that “People were created to be loved. Things were created to be used. The reason why the world is in chaos is because things are being loved and people are being used.” by the author John Green It is very much true and sometimes people are blinded with technology or media that they tend to forget their loved ones and those people that truly care about them. All I can say is invest your time to people that are worth it rather than always keeping your eyes on gadgets because, at the end of the day when you die gadgets are not the one who mourns in your death, it is your loved ones and the people who love you too. Meanwhile, there are also people in the media who use ICT as a tool for change, such as influencers, someone who influences us to be good and beneficial things. I believe that when there are people who are blinded by technology, there are also people who are responsible users. I somewhat agree with how people currently use technology nowadays since I observed that people in media are resourceful in order to have income through ICT, especially now that we are facing a pandemic, it is not that easy to get a job, and having the media or online sites we get to have the opportunity to work again, entertain, and connect with people (e.g. TikToker, blogger, vlogger)

In conclusion, always use ICT wisely, it may be a cliché, but when we are awake to its advantages and disadvantages, we always think before we click on every action, we take in every aspect. Let us follow technology guidance and rules for us to become responsible users. Always adhere to the basic behavior in any official site and stop using media or technology to judge or bully others. I sincerely hope that adolescents will be able to manage their time spent utilizing technology. It is understandable for me that often we are unable to regulate our emotional states, and in order to do so, we turn to the media for release, but we must exercise caution because we may be judged by the entire world for a single mistake and we do not know what will happen after. To avoid encountering unnecessary things, we must use ICT in the correct and proper manner.
